i keep it simple and cheap. I wash with Armorall Ultra Shine, california blade to wipe water off, and spray wax (i did this step everyday for a week to build up a coat on it) with Armoral Ultra Shine detailer. probably once a year i use a can of Meguires to put a hard shell coat on it.
it seems to be working well so far, i did just start the spray wax a few months ago, but with such a small car, it doesn't take more than 10 minutes to spray the whole car.
my only question is, what should i use to get the wax off the black trim (bottom of bumper)?

I work at an auto store, have tried a few different things.

Armor-All sent us all free trial containers of their new extreme shield wax. I put it on and was disappointed. Not nice at all compared to the Meguiars NXT Tech Wax.

It's the only thing I recommend. Clay bar + that is the glassiest smooth car ever

I use it on my car and bike after I clay bar it and hit it with a eagle one synthetic polish which really makes the color pop, especially my carbon fiber exhaust and hanger on my bike.

I've used Turtle Wax Ice most of the time. I've been reading that I'm wrong in doing so and that there are many better options out there.

i am retired and some what obsessed with waxing, wtc. someone mentioned wolfgang, and all wolfgang is good. i have tried literallyeverything. i use optimum opti seal. fantastic. followed by a layer of optimum car wax. one car, a red kia forte, looks fantastic. my second car, a 2002 foc zx5, dark blue, looks almost as good. i do sealant one week, wax the next. the opti seal is unbelievably slick. no clay bars, no paste wax. too much work. 30 minutes max, and both cars look better and shinier than new.

I've used Meguiars for years, a couple times a year with multi-step cleaning and waxing, then Quick Wax and Quick detailer almost every week. And I've been happy with the results. But Turtle Wax Ice is great on all the matte black and rubber parts, like the window surrounds, and rocker panels. I even put it on a Jeep Wrangler's wheel opening mouldings that tend to fade fast, and it seems to be preserving them.

I think the stuff that I use is more akin to paint sealant than a wax. I'm lazy. I just want to protect the paint so it won't fall off like my dad's old Honda that wasn't waxed in like 10 years. I used to use Liquid Glass, but I'm having trouble finding it now- and once it's old it doesn't work very well. I found some similar stuff called TR3. There are some things I like better about it. On the unfinished black plastic, Liquid Glass used to stain it white forever. Nothing got it off but time. This stuff seems to rub off- with a good bit of rubbing- and leave a shine. If it wasn't so late in the season, I could tell you more about it.

I'm anti-carnauba wax. 2x it has attracted more bugs to my car than I want to have. Once it ruined a perfectly good 87 Cutlass Supreme I spent months repairing the finish on with carnauba- yeah the finish looked great, it was the ants that invaded it that ruined it. That was back before camera phones or I could more accurately show you what an ant nest under auto carpet looks like. I prefer waxes that bugs don't like to sniff.

+1 for Meguiars NXT Tech Wax. I know there are better, much more expensive things out there but its cheap, easy to find and easy to work with

I still use the armor all ultra shine detailer, but now that it has been mentioned, I have noticed that when I'm at the lakefront working, there are ALOT more bugs on my car than anyone else's in the group...
