Engine mounts
I just bought a 4 door, 2007 ford focus SE / US model 2.0 eng. 68,000 miles.
can someone please tell me why i keep reading about people replacing the engine mounts ?? my eng does shake a lot, and what to look for if so... is that why ?? thank you Derek |

front wheel drive motors twist hard under abuse and rip the dry rubber, fresh mounts last 4 to 6 years normally. Common one breaking is passenger and lower tranny, upper tranny may go out but is not really a issue on how it sits. if the lower bone goes you will hear a bump under the hood when you have acceleration from a stop, and hit reverse. the Passenger mount will vibrate almost all of the time.

More so if you have your foot on the brake & shift from drive to reverse or vice verse. Then you can see the motor roll around w/ the hood open. I'd upgrade to a vf engineering dogbone.

Hey Felix,
I got the CFM dogbone about a year ago...and I've noticed a few things. The vibration at around 800-900 rpms is normal for the dogbone, I get that. However, with the A/C on I get a lot of vibration at lower engine speeds too...I never torqued the bolt but did a wrench twist and tightened it up without overloading it... Any suggestions?
