IA key on roof

Well last night my wife found out the car starts if the key is on the roof. Well the key is now gone but I would have thought the key would have to be inside the cabin before it would start? So just as a warning be sure not to place your IA key on the roof. Anyone else discovered this the hard way?

It probably did but shes not one to pay attention to stuff like that. It happened last night so she's going to look today again in a couple spots since she has more light.

^ How could you not hear it, it makes an annoying "Boop boop boop" when the IA key isn't present.... Right in the center HUD on the small screen.

I asked her and she said it didn't say anything until she got to her next stop and opened the door. I will test it later today to confirm.

Really? We should stop all progress because someone does something careless? Most people know not to put things on the roof of their cars for just that reason. I guess the next time someone puts their keys in the trunk and locks them in there, you'll say "just another real-world example of why a FOB is better than an actual key", will you?

You never need to take it out of your pocket or purse. How anyone could leave it on the roof is a mystery. You're more likely to loose you house keys.

My experience with any no-key fob type vehicle, is that once it's started and running, it doesn't have a need to look for the fob. So no, it probably didn't give any warning of the missing fob because it was already running.

You're talking the difference between just a few inches between the inside of the roof and it resting on top. The system is pretty good, but this is a $20k car, not the space shuttle. On the flip side, it's nearly impossible to lock your keys inside the car which is probably a lot more common that leaving it on the roof....
