Fuel Filter?

Total rookie question. I've always heard it's good practice to change the fuel filter yearly(ish), my Dad has always done this on all of our cars.

After looking through the service manual, and www.fordparts.com I haven't been able to find a fuel filter in any parts list, or mentioned on the 2012.

I heard one rumbling that we didn't have one... and the only fiilter listed on the www.fordparts.com under "2012 Ford Focus -> Fuel and Air Delivery -> Filters" is the air filter, and a fuel water separator filter (which I don't think is the same as a traditional fuel filter that runs $10-$20)

Any insight on this?

I figured that but was really hoping that wouldn't be the case. I wonder why they are doing that?

Because people want 100K no maintenance, only thing a manufacturer can do..is listen and deliver to those wants...stupid

People do that already even if it's changeable lol

I'm sure there is a better reason than that. Maybe to sell more fuel injection cleaning services at the dealers? lol

I vote this^... or maybe simply to discourage the home mechanic from performing basic routine maintenance. If they build it into the pump pickup assembly, fewer people are going to want to deal with draining and dropping the tank and therefor pay the $75/hr labor charge and the outrageous price that the dealership will charge for a filter through them....or maybe it is just a cleanable screen filter like motorcycles have had on them for years.
