Auto to Manual Trans Swap

So I have been thinking about this a lot... How hard would it be to swap my Dual Clutch Titanium autos trans out for one of the 5 speed manual trans?

Say I find a wrecked focus that was rear ended that was a 5 speed and got it for cheap... Does anyone know how hard it would be to swap em? I mean, I know there would be a lot of work involved but it should be pretty much bolt out bolt in I assume.. That and a computer swap I would think and bolting the clutch pedal in.

Anyone thought about doing this before?

Here's a how to on just swaping out a ATX trans from a mk1 to show sort of what you're in for just on the removal:

Now add in the headache of replacing that with a manual trans. It's been done on previous models and imho not worth it on such a new car. Your best bet is to trade it in and take the hit on the depreciation while you still have some value left on the car.

Being that It's such a new car, and the DCT is a $1k option, you'd probably be better off selling yours private-party and buying a 5-speed IMHO.

You can do that if you have nothing but time on your hands...took me 8 months to sell my truck and go down $4000 from my asking price in order to get it sold...dealership is quicker and easier

I think an almost 40 mpg car will sell a lot easier than a truck in the land of $4/gallon gas. Especially if he has it detailed and markets it right.

Just a thought, since 95% of America drive automatic... you may find a dealer with a used 5 speed 2012 that would flat-trade. It would be easier for them to sell your car, you may even get a little cash from them if you're a good negotiater.

Wouldn't be practical, but I'd love to have a manual tranny without giving up my Kona Blue :P
