New 2012 Ford Focus SE, Auto Trans, 201A package, Sedan - $16,200 which included rebates but, did not include the $750 customer cash coupon I got in the mail one week later - Dhoa!! MSPR was $19,985 I believe.

Age - past the half way point of my life expectancy

I'm seeing 2013 Ford Focus SE's with A/T for $16,985 here in MA. That's rebates to the dealer BUT, not the customer cash if you get the coupon in the mail.

I noticed that the 2013 SE's come with Alloy wheels. not steel like the 2012. Also includes SYNC, not a package upgrade as with the 2012 AND it has turn signal indicators in the side view mirrors ... also USB and two 12 v outlets (which may be SYNC related ... my 2012 only as the AUX input ... no USB). Looks real nice for the $$

Picked up my 2012 Focus SEL hatchback that has leather, rear parking sensors, moonroof, power driver's seat, 6-speed dual clutch transmission for $17,500. But with my trade-in, effectively I really had to pay $14,000. It seems appropriate that I am on page 52 of this thread since that matches my age. Judging from the previous responses, young and experienced alike loves this car.

Except that to get the rear disk brakes now requires the SFE package and a downgrade to steel wheels and lrr tires on the sedan, or the 2700+ 201A package with 17" wheels on a hatchback.

Overall yes they added a bunch of features that were selling well in 2012 as extra cost options, but removed the ones you really wanted or valued if you wanted them separately. You can no longer get rear disk brakes and 16" alloy wheels together, nor can you get the dual zone climate control without MFT. You also give up the standard fog lamps on the 2012 SE in the base 2013 SE.

It becomes much more expensive per the sticker to build a car approaching the level of equipment found on my 2012 due to the packaging constraints.

It was slightly more open then, although it was still rather confining at the time.
