When is the end?

Hey guys

I'm not too familiar with earlier foci (joined the movement back in 08 with a brand new 09) and Ive been wondering... When did ford officially stop putting the zetecs in the focus? I thought it was at the end of 04 and that they started putting the d-tecs in for the 05 model year. Was there some crossover into 05 with the zetec? The reason I'm asking is, my dad is looking at a focus and the (cough cough) used car dealer told him that he has an 05 zx5 with a zetec in it. Like stated, I thought 05 brought with it the then new duratec. Any insight is appreciated.

If it's a SVT 5 door it'd be a zetec, technically.
Otherwise 2004 was the end of them. It was the crossover year. The PZEV was available with a duratec while all others got the zetec in 2004.

You could also get the Duratec in an 03 as an optional upgrade.

They also changed the body style in '05' & again in '08' & again in '12'.
