is changing the timing chain and lashing the valves a weekend garage mechanic type of job? ive changed many older ford and chevy v8 timing chains but never something this new.. im a little nervous to get into it then f something up... i have 104k on my 08 and i drive the piss out of it so im sure its needing one at this time. im guessing if i had it apart i could easily install cams as well?

You could do it in a weekend, get a book and map it out. The haynes manual doesn't tell you much though its only good for pictures. but you will need a need a new crankshaft bolt because its not keyed and u should not reuse the old one. I personally would not change the timing chain till about 200K, because its not a belt and the chains last a bit longer. I havent read a post yet about the newer foci jumping timing.

Alright thanks!! when that time comes that is what ill do since i was quoted 680 just for labor at my local dealer. i was just curious about when because honestly the only time my car sees 3k rpm is on road trips, other then that town driving is redline or 5,000 before shifting. ive also noticed the idle is super rough.... i know its normal a little but its gotten worse and my mpg has dropped from a normal 25 or 27 to 19...

Have you changed out the plug's/ fuel filter? air filter?
