Hey gang,

As I mentioned before, I'm going to keep an eye on this thread and see how successful it is for everyone. If I notice that you've escalated with me in the past and this fix works, I want to make a note of it and pass this info up the chain.

If it works for you and you don't post publicly, could you send me a quick PM and let me know your results? That would be a great help to me.

Thanks so much!
Crystal

Seems to me that this problem could be resolved permanently with a simple software update, just rewrite the code to make the TCS default to off, and if you want it on then you can turn it on yourself.

That's why they keep us locked in the basement.

Note: That was just an example - I don't work for Ford. I am, however an engineer stuck working in a basement with desks/cubicle walls from 1970 while the people upstairs are on like... their 4th remodel since 2000.

I dont think they can turn off TCS by default for safety reasons, they just need to make it less aggressive for sensing slippage.

I wondeur if the TCS needs to be reworked on all foci. I've stalled more than a few times thinking i didnt give it enough gas or that it didnt have enough torque.

If you're stuck in mud or snow, sometimes that extra several seconds it takes to have to go through menus rather than hit a button is all it takes for your car to sink too far in to the muck to get through.
Sorry, my previous question was rhetorical.

hotleadsingerguy: "It should retain my setting"
cobie56: "major flaw in engineering this feature"
me: "Do you know of any recent cars that don't have this "major flaw in engineering"?"

In other words, I was asking if he knew of any car that:
a) "remembers" the previous TCS setting
b) does not have the TCS on by default

The point is that not everyone will agree that the TCS operation is flawed.

There is a good reason as to why it would be difficult to find a car that doesn't operate in a similar manner to the Focus.

I drove home with TC off. It's like driving a new car!! Shifts quick and it's a lot faster off the line. Great fix! Need to find a way to keep the TC off all the time

TC off by default is not going to happen.

I'm sure that any Ford powertrain engineer would agree that the TCS shouldn't have to be turned off for the car to operate smoothly. That would clearly be shite engineering.
