Select Shift "Sport Start"

Does the DCT have a "launch mode" when brake+gas are applied in select shift? When doing this in "S" mode the rpms stay at about 3500, however in "d" it stays at 1k. To clarify, does the launch control only activate in select shift mode?

It's not intended as launch. It's the computer stopping the engine from over revving when some dipshit tries to show off their racecar to his friends.

I figured, I wasn't sure if my DCT was being loopy. I don't typically drive like that, thank you sir

I used it once, but like Burns said it's not actually a "Launch Control", in the traditional sense. It's the computer rev limiting you, not a special mode to control take-offs.

A lot of media has said this car has launch control, which is where the misinformation came from.

It sounds to me like a pretty good launch point for a car with clutches instead of a torque converter. It sounds more like a launch control than a rev limiter to me. Just my $0.02.

I agree.

If you only lightly press the brake, it will not rev over 1000 RPM. If you put considerable pressure on it, it will rev to 2700 (or whatever the number is). That also happens to be a fairly good RPM to launch the car from, much higher and you're just spinning the tires. Mine acts this way in BOTH drive and sport.

If it were a rev limiter they'd just keep it at 1000 all around.

Yes and it works like one too, but there is no ford document that I have found that calls it this or says it has this feature.
