I like how they only test it on a smooth parking lot. I don't notice the noise on smooth roads while turning ... only over rougher roads and bumps... this is probably why my dealer said no when I took it in for the passenger side last month (have had the driver side TSB done already).

Well, that TSB is specifically for the strut bearings exhibiting a grinding/crunching/creaking/groaning noise, not the clunking that many of us have been dealing with.

FWIW, my clunking strut bearings did make creaking noises when turning from lock to lock. In fact, that noise is still slightly present after my fix. It doesn't really bother me, though.

I've actually never tried to recreate the noise on a flat surface or by turning my wheels while stopped... I may have to give that a shot and see if I can hear anything. My previous fix was insanely obvious. This time around, it's not to that point, yet.

I don't know specifically what changed, but the date coincides with the switchover to job 2 builds. The change may have be procedural, not necessarily a changed part. For instance, they may have changed something like a torque spec or installation sequence.

Actually 4/2/12 doesn't correspond to the start of job 2 builds at all. That date was on or after 3/5/12 as the start of job 2 builds. So afaik it's just a random point one month into job 2 production.

Actually? Note that I didn't say that it corresponded to the "start" of Job 2.

3/5 was the beginning of Job 2, and not an exact cutoff. There were changes occurring from that date until at least the middle of April, as older parts were phased out.

Just ask those folks who got the original headrests up until mid-April. Are you sure other parts or procedures were not "phased out" the same way? If not, I don't see how you can state with certainty that the date "doesn't correspond at all". The Job 2 changeover description even states that 3/5 was not an exact cutoff date, and 4/2 corresponds to the time period where some changes were still being made.

Recently I went back to the service department of my local dealership and asked if any new TSB's had come out about this issue. He looked it up and said that they'd already changed these parts.
The end of the conversation came when he said that because we filled out a survey sent to us by Ford by expressing dissatisfaction with the service we were "messing with his pay and ratings". WTH!?!

To hell with Ford and their corporate stupidity that results in less help because it penalizes their own people.

Short of the long is that that dealership's service department will no longer help me.

And that's one of the biggest problems with service departments, and even sales departments. They're driven by survey results.

I work at a dealership. I know.
