I know this thread is kind of old, but I had to chime in as one that doesn't think the Sony system is loud enough. It may be my ears, but I have no problem getting pleasing sound from other stereos. It seems like once you get past about 75% on the volume, it doesn't get any louder. It just runs out of oomph. Also, when listening at "high" volume, the sound seems to - drop? I can't adequately describe it, but it feels like the sound bounces or drops a bit from note to note. Does anyone else hear the same thing?

I honestly can't take mine much past halfway without it hurting my ears. What source are you using where you get this to happen? Perhaps the source recording level is low. Or, maybe there is something wrong with your system/settings?

I have a live Metallica concert CD set on my iPod that is too loud even on less then 50% volume.

I've tried CD, SD, USB, AV in and Bluetooth. It's the same effect no matter the input. The problem with this is that it is so subjective. What makes your ears bleed may tickle mine. I have been over all of my setting time and again and found nothing that would suggest a culprit. I think I'll go to the dealership and listen to another identical system to see if it's just me.

Hi gybryant and TiStick,

As you said, gybryant, volume can be pretty subjective. If you're unhappy with your stereo's performance, not only would I check out like models and judge their volume against yours, but I'd also have a Ford tech inspect the speakers.

Or, you know, you can always trade vehicles with TiStick. Sounds like his speakers are working just fine.

I'm happy to get your case escalated, gybryant, if you'd like to go that route. Send me a PM with your VIN, mileage, dealer, and daytime phone number; I'll handle things from there.

Have a great weekend!
Crystal

I thought it was just me. I can have mine all the way up on multiple sources and I feel like it's not giving enough. Also the audio drops. Probably the system trying to protect the cheap speakers

Remember, there's a subset of the population that compete in car competitions and the winner is the one with the loudest stereo. Not how good it is but how loud it is. I don't think Ford, or any other car maker for that matter, should be expected to impress them with a stock system.

You should hear the sub that Subaru is putting in their new cars. This Kicker Competition Pro is insane.

I know this is off topic: why do you need mileage? Its a radio problem and op will provide VIN.

Back on topic: its a really good system considering the price range if the car. I have mo plans to change/upgrade.
