going downhill routinely gives me over 150mpgs on my scan gauge.....ha ha now if it'd only give me half that in normal driving i'd be happy.

Why is that? Do you know what speed the car has to obtain in order to shut off the engine?

Aggressive deceleration fuel shut off (A-DFSO) cuts fuel when the throttle is closed and the car is in gear. Essentially you are not injecting any fuel and the momentum of the car is driving the engine as an air pump through the wheels. Where as in neutral you've disconnected the engine from the transmission and therefore have to burn fuel to keep it running.

However there are a few conditions that need to be met, such as the initial vehicle speed being sufficient/ load sufficient to support this condition. It appears to work down to 1500 rpm or so afaik.

So your saying, below 1500 rpm is when the fuel cut occurs?

I said down to, that means from any engine speed above this point i.e. from 6500 rpm down to 1500 rpm.

No, below 1500 rpm the fuel cut would stop happening. I.e. you need to have sufficient vehicle and road speed, although I think it might be active down to 15 mph, i.e. that's the minimum speed when you could be running under the fuel shut off. However I don't know the exact thresholds, but its been discussed a myriad of times.
