Yes, Sync was created by Microsoft but the discussion is about MyFord Touch (which was not created by Microsoft).

3. Plug USB drive into car and follow the on-screen prompts.

That's it, the update package should do all the rest. If it's not that simple than the update should be available only to dealers qualified to install it.

Where I work as a driver validation engineer lead we operate under a simple motto, "it should just work" and we execute under that motto very well.

Between the long-term problems people are having with the DCT and Ford's incompetence at maintaining software, I've already made the decision to sell my Focus as soon as MFT climate control functionality is restored. It has under 10k miles so now's as good a time as any.

And then... I am buying a Subaru Legacy GT and building my own infotainment center. I am seriously considering thinking of taking it open source so everyone can benefit...including Ford.

1 thing does matter and its stated right in the install instructions. It clearly says to remove any other USB devices that may be plugged into one of the ports.

I had no other USB devices plugged into the vehicle, and I no longer have mft climate.

Lets just all agree the update was FUBAR'ED....that's why Ford pulled it. Not one person in here is responsible for the loss of their climate function with mft. The blame lies solely on the company who's large blue oval is displayed on my vehicle. I could care less what company actually programmed the software. Fords name is on my car, and its called My Ford Touch...

^ this ^

I was told by sync support that if I tap the power button or bring up the climate quadrant then the icons should return.

Holy gee wow, I never thought of trying that!

Couple days ago it was "mysteriously" pulled.

Yes, because their QA department (FF forum members) found a problem.

Amen - plain and simple. If I have a problem with a shirt I buy from "Dept. Store XYZ", I am not going to go after the people who made in Bangladesh - I am returning to the dept store who sold it to me.

For anyone with the HVAC problem: Try accessing the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) test mode and see if you are getting DTC code C164_00.

C164_00: Lost Communication With HVAC Control Module

Test mode: Press and hold the OK button before turning on the ignition and continue holding it after turning on the ignition.
