Not everyone needs a 14 foot long truck with 34" rims sitting 8.6 miles off the ground with a few dozen pairs of truck nutz.

I'm with you. If having a F-950 with a V-12 diesel, 3 axles, 8 foot lift kit, 'Merican flag paint, an eagle rear window decal, and bowling ball sized truck nutz makes you more of a man, then you can call me Shirley.

The C-Max is certainly not my wife's favorite looking car. However, we'll save over $100 a month on gas by replacing the GTI, the A-plan price with rebates is $24000 for a loaded SE, and I get $3000 from work for purchasing a hybrid. I'll paint it pink for the right price.

But this isn't intended to replace the Focus sedan/HB is it?

I was just at the dealer the other day and saw a lot of these on their lots (or what I think are the C-Maxes), but not too many Focuses. They had these right up front and I didn't really see any Focus or Fiestas in view (they had them right up front and center the last time i was out there about 4 months ago...)

It won't replace the Focus in any significant quantities because its only available here as a hybrid, or soon a plug in hybrid and therefore costs a whole lot more money starting at 25995 for the base SE 2.0L hybrid version with the $795 destination and delivery charges applied, and the plug-in Energi starting at 33745 with the $795 destination and delivery charges applied. They may be eligible for tax incentives but only if you owed enough in taxes for the credits to apply.

The base Focus is a 16995 S sedan at msrp, with the same $795 destination and delivery charges applied. So its unlikely to actually displace Focus sales, but they might try to order a few to try and push people into spending more money for a hybridized version of the platform, plus it is the new model after all.

No not at all, the North American C-Max Hybrid will go up against the Prius V.

Ford N.A. now has a direct competitor to Toyota's Hybrid only Prius vehicles.
Now Toyota cannot unfairly compare their hybrid only Prius against the other competitors
whom do not have a "hybrid only" vehicle in their line up, until now with Ford choosing to use the
C-Max as a hybrid only vehicle in the North American market.

honestly, if this car was around when i bought my focus, I'd seriously consider it.. I'm getting 40mpg on my commute, but 50 would reduce my gas cost by 25%, which is like 30-40$ per month.

This is a huge car for ford if they can market it right and produce enough of them.
