A lot depends on what you like in a car. I like smooth power delivery, not a fan of turbo lag and sluggishness in low rpms, so ms3 and wrx are not for me. Plus they are old platforms with terrible gas mileage.
FWD vs RWD vs AWD is a personal thing too. With a powerful RWD you have ot be careful with your right foot powering out of turns as the rear end slides out, many people enjoy that others find it disconcerting. FWD you have more tire slippage taking off...if on a hill or in the wet this is exaggerated and really annoying, plus you have torque steer to deal with and issues with traction when cornering hard. AWD is prob my fave but looking at worse gas mileage and some power loss at the wheels. With a $22k budget I'd save up a few grand as the cars you listed are more like $25k new then go test drive them to see what you like. If your budget is strict I'd go with a new v6 mustang if you like RWD or a slightly used GTI if you like FWD or need the rear seat room. Thats just me though. |

Might as well get the 350Z.
The G35 is far from a competitive sports coupe, the G37 fixed that by sacrificing some of its ride quality and being more stiff but I mean, meh. G coupe or sedan is more for grand touring. And at those prices a 335i or xi is a far better car at both grand touring and sportiness.

Gen 3 RX7 used, of course, no depreciation, faster and better handling than anything listed here so far, RWD, only one passenger FTW!!!!! You just have to find one that hasn't been raped with a badly installed body kit.

Or there's this.... I'm not sure if this guy knows what he has or not. That's definitely not a Boxster, but I didn't think that the Cayman was available stateside that year either. You can pick up a used Boxster in that price range or less- financing is a no though.
Is it a Boxster hard top, or a Cayman?

" Top by “Zeintec” with custom made everything, heated rear window defrost like OEM, all convertible top mechanism removed and open area custom carpeted to match interior color and carpet (BTW, new floor carpet too, got tired of looking at a cigarette burn that somebody did in the 25,000 miles before I bought the car. Also that burn was from long, long ago and it’s never been smoked in while I’ve owned it, NO smoke smell and the OEM Non Smoking kit has been there since I got it to boot.) Top installation looks as factory as you can get if I do say so myself. Gaps are a little wider than factory and a little more than I would like but, overall a very good fit, nicely prepared and a great option if you like the Boxster but are not particularly a convertible guy as I’m not nor could I go on the prowl for a Cayman at the time, Priorities. OEM Cayman third brakelight incorporated into the rear hatch for a very finished effect." The company used to make it as a kit/ conversion, but they failed during the recession. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...t-of-business/ |
