brian (pyroinsa) made a template out of cardboard. i believe he cut a piece to fit between the tails (right under where the wing will be mounted) and taped it onto the glass.
you should PM him and see if he can dig up the pics.

I really overthought it. PM this guy on FJ and he will fax you the template

I don't know if Steve has an FF account, instead of pm'ing him you could always just call

1-800-328-9552 to get him to fax you the template.

Any grocery store Office Depot, Office Max, etc will let you use their fax for a dollar or two. Possibly even public libraries.

Well it has been a while, time for an update. College is pretty alright, I have been really busy between classes, volunteering, and weekend rock climbing. I hate having to go to car washes now, as well as having to park in a parking lot with droves of irresponsible college students ( I already have a nice big dent in the drivers side rear quarter panel from somebody opening their door into my car, that shit really pisses me off) Luckily for me I found a very active (though small) population of autocrossers up here. I discovered this after I found notice of an upcoming autox event left on my car in the parking lot (apparently my car looks sporty enough to get noticed ). I ended up taking first in the ST class and 13th overall. Here are some pics:

Through this event I discovered my college's car club, so now I have access to a place to work on my car and some tools I don't own. Another autox is coming up next weekend, so hopefully another class win. The one downside to all this autox is that next summer I am going to need new tires :( but hey I guess that means I have an excuse to get some stickier tires. I am thinking my next upgrades are probably going to be performance engine mounts and a short shifter, possibly a race header and tune down the road too. Any thoughts on the short shifter in a car with an armrest? I think it would be awkward to get to, any tasteful way to get rid of the arm rest?

Some hatches had the armrests while other didn't (mine doesn't). If you can find a focus without (or watch the BST section) you can get a center console without the armrest.

i don't understand what you're getting at. do you want an armrest or want to get rid or yours? i have one, and a short throw, and it's not akward with the armrest, it just takes a little getting used to. it's also nice to have one to lean on while hugging turns

Nice to see another Focus in Auto-X!!! About the armrest, it seems to me - more Foci came without an armrest. I hit the junkyards all the time, and all I see are Foci with consoles without armrests. Start there first, I would be willing to bet that you find a console without an armrest, very quick.

that's funny, all the foci at the junkyars here have armrests. i have yet to find one without! then again they're all sedans, and not including the focus graveyard. but still.
