passenger side axle keeps popping out of the trans

oh just check this crap out. i got out there and crawled back under the car and lookie at what i found.

axle slipped out of the bearing here



here is where it came out of the trans


and then i grabbed ahold of the shaft and gave it a light yank and the whole thing moved... wtf? i start feeling around and notice that 2 of the 3 bolts are missing... hmmm


this one looks like it broke off in the block. spec-freaking-tacular!


so this is the 5th or 6th time (ive lost count) that i have had this car at this particular shop in the last 6 months for 2 different things. its been there 3 times for an alternator (its a bitch and i hate changing them) and i paid for a NEW alternator and they put a reman in it from the alternator and starter repair shop next door. the alternator has gone out 2 more times since then and i have on paper that they replace the alternator for me for free for life unless they want a lawsuit. this last time they put a cv axle in it and now it is sitting in their parking lot again. they are going to fix it monday morning if i have to come in there and baby sit them to make sure they do it right. i am not paying a dime and if they dont then i will happily pull the car back home, fix it myself, and then we will have a lawsuit. never again will i take my car to a mechanic to be worked on. ive learned my lesson. never trust someone else to do something that you can do yourself.

I have this trouble with my mazda... I go through carrier bearing bolts like candy.

its the one that is getting boosted. i haven't gotten that far yet since i have 2 other projects i need to complete before i put the turbo kit on the focus.

Damn.... IIRC, the bracket is available from Ford, but if I were you, I'd take those pics directly to the shop manager, then to a lawyer. The broken bolt is ridiculous. You're lucky that's all that is screwed up.

That is the plan. Already had a consultation.

so i went up there, they tried to argue, my lawyer called and talked to him for 15 minutes, they brought my car in and fixed it while i supervised. replaced the entire axle, unbolted the dog bone so the motor could be tilted so they could drill and tap the bolt out of the block, new bolts, loctite and out the door in 45 minutes at no charge. it took me a grand total of an hour and a half to talk to the guy and then get in my car to drive it home.
