Stock Intake/K&N Cone Filter

any possible way to connect a cone shape k&n to the intake hose of the SPI

i had this idea that might improve the intake a bit.

Take of the filter cover and "throw away", and then fabricate a heat shield from sheetmetal which would be mounted with the stock screws that hold the cover on...the attach a cone shaped filter like the ones in the cold air intakes

i guess this would make a kinda-but not really short ram intake ....which could work a little better then the stock...also i would leave the snorkel so its able to get some air from the out side

what do you gusy think ???

if you decide to do this make a how to because that what i had in minda if i eventually did the mod

Im doing this soon to my spirit sohc, buying a specter performance filter and slapping it on. Heard awesome things too. I plan on keeping the snorkel and tube and stuff, just removing the filter and top half to force air in. And also rigging a heat shield. Im also considering a tube from my lower grille thing to replace the snorkel, and get a straight line airflow in. Let you know how it turns out!
