A $10 garage door remote is worth breaking into a car to steal? I can't imagine it would be worth the risk to most thieves.

It has a power wire going to it that you'll have to run up through the A pillar. And possibly install the wire in the car's fuse box. Seems like kind of a big job.

I find it interesting that you life out the part of my post where I talked about how thieves grab your registration from the glove box which must be in the vehicle by law and which has your address as it also must be by law then drive to your home, open your garage door and break into your home.

Is the reason for your post is that you get off on trying to make others look silly?

Dude relax, I'm not trying to make you look silly. You didn't write the article so you shouldn't take offense. I'm just still not buying it. It's my own personal opinion, not trying to argue with you.

When we moved into the house we built 7 years ago the garage was full of boxes so we couldn't put our cars into it. My car was broken into and I reported everything that was gone. Well I didn't notice the garage door opener gone.

The thieves came back 3 weeks later and emptied my garage of everything of value. Lesson learned.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. I'm sure it happens. I just can't imagine thieves going through parking lots, breaking into cars with visible garage door remotes so that it's easier to break into a house. First of all, isn't it just as easy if not easier to jimmy a house door open than a car door? Second, a smart thief scopes out a house for a while before breaking to make sure no one's home and no neighbors are looking. Choosing a house by breaking into a random car you found in a distant public parking lot is just so... random... and stupid.

Not saying it never happens just can't imagine it's an emerging epidemic. Maybe I'm wrong.

As I said earlier if a garage has a door into the home it provides the best opportunity for a thief especially if they can get into the garage easily which they can with YOUR remote. As they approach your home in their car they hit your remote, drive in and close the door. Even if your neighbor saw this they probably wouldn't be suspicious. Once safely inside and out of sight the thief can take as long as they need to cherry pick your best valuables. At least you can take solace in the fact when you come home to discover you have been picked clean that your stolen remote only cost you $10. Everything else is inconseqential. It is isn't it?

Can you provide the link?

I absolutely think it's useful hence I've ordered it. For clarification purposes I have a Titanium. I figure if it is in any 2013 it would be in that configuration.

What a concept, sticking to the topic. The post subject 'Is there a garage door opener in the Focus' escalated into a pissing match over whether the opener has any value. Who cares? I for one don't. My Focus is my Focus and is the focus of my focus. Everyone's else's Focus is theirs to do what they want.

The main reason I am in this forum is to learn, share 'helpful' information and my experiences with my Focus and especially with Ford service or lack of same.

For those who aren't aware of it, there are lot of people on this site who are not necessarily Focus enthusiasts. These include professional media contractors who manage their client's brand and image by monitoring social media and reporting the squawk on the street to their clients or in some cases posing as legitimate participants and neutralizing negative comments through the use of sophistry. Then there are those who get their rocks off on sniping at any comment that presents a target. I am confident Ford is listening in on FF. It remains to be seen whether they act on some of the issues some of us are raising.

Sure enough. I'll check with the dealership to see if they'll do something about it. Good find!
