Well, if none of that stuff fixes your problem, these cars are equipped with automagic idle control. There is some way you can tune it back up if its wrong. the instructions are in the owners manual. anywho good luck fixing your car bro!

That sure looks like a Frankwire job. It did not come from the factory like that for sure.

It's definitely something electrical. That's why it's worse when it's raining. Something that should be insulated is not, and the water is acting as a conductor to make it even worse.

Now we just need to narrow down the possibilities starting with the cheapest fixes first.

I'd unwrap all that black tape and check the wire connections to make sure that they aren't corroded. Someone obviously tore apart the split loom around the wires and wired something up..... Possibly a new pigtail connection for the coil. They may not have done a good job insulating the wires or protecting them from the elements. Electrical tape alone won't cut it.

That electrical tape was actually my doing after i tore off the old electrical tape to see what was under. It looks to me like they replace the pigtail with that replacement using those connectors and the provided heatshrink insulators. Nothing looked bad underneath it. As far as I can tell the electrical tape is just there for support and to hold that one connector with the brown wire in place away from heat sources.

Ok. So then follow the steps I outlined and let's see where it gets us.

Start with wires. Cheapest fix.

If that doesn't work, do your coilpack. Buy them both and if the wires fix it, return the coilpack.
