Longest could stall getting recall, and still get it free?

Say i want to eventually have them do the wiper recall, but not for a LONG time.
Well, how long can I wait? before it is no longer available?
Two years?
Anyway, i just have zero interest in taking my car in for any reason, unless I had to. So since i have no reason, i just do not want to bother with the wiper recall.
Now I suppose eventually i will let them do it, just is there a time limit?
PS i have indoor parking, and for myself, i could care less about it. But for the next owner.. well, i suppose i should have it checked.

Not sure if there's a time limit really as a recall is government driven.

As they don't send the recall letters via certified mail, etc...they really don't have a way of proving if or when you were notified. Soooo, if they were to refuse to do it for time, they'd probably be opening themselves up for some liability issues.

I suspect if you go within 1-3 years and/or while still under warranty, it wouldn't be a problem.

Granted this is a wiper issue (vs say, a steering or braking issue), but it's probably still worth getting addressed sooner than later.

As a side note, I got a recall notice for a parking brake issue that I had already fixed (bought factory parts out of pocket before the notice was issued) on my '01 Silverado. I didn't see a dealer for another 2-3 years, but about every six months I got a notice there was an open recall and that if I was no longer the current owner, I should forward the notice to such person.

When I finally did visit a dealer (2-3 years later) they informed me a recall was still open offered to perform it.

I told them it had already been addressed, but I suspect they took credit for performing it and claimed the money from GM.

Usually safety recalls stay open forever, but other cases depending on the problem could close it, or they'll add a new supplement that will be an even more updated fix/change of getting a loaner car in some cases, but with yours if you wait for the wiper recall too long chances are your gonna end up waiting even longer for the part to come in. The recall takes 15 mins or less when i do them

^I agree
I have still been getting recall notices for my civic for a recall that must be 4-5 years old.
