The power is restricted due to the air box, it's not big enough to hold all the air the engine needs. She will rev beyond 8500rpm but that's where she runs out of air.

My options are to cut the firewall and make a bigger airbox if I want to keep the MAF, or convert to speed density, remove the airbox, put some horns on the throttle bodies and let them suck air! My dyno tuner said that would give me another 35hp easy.

Your catterham guys probably don't have the throttle bodies in a box.

Nevertheless I'm quite happy with the power and it does it's job at the track very well. Autocross is more than just power, you need suspension, brakes, traction and the most important thing a driver!

Idling in grid it kinda sounds like a helicopter. Intimidating to say the least.

There's plenty room down and under the TB's to make a bigger airbox ...

Displacement increase could get you there. Almost impossible to tell without taking motor apart.

All are greAt but i would try cold air intake,bigger throttle body ,port intake manifold port and polish, port exaust manifold dont lose the cat you need back pressure unless you are turbocharged or superchared other wise it wl runch shitty. Look in to changing you ignition to
Kming and cam timing advance it as you see progress if you deck the head and increase compression higher octane fuel to prevent preigniton a nice tuner would be great to adding hp. Look into wide band o2 sensors for tunning. You could get the svt variable intake manifold that has short and long runners for better low and high torque so youll have powerthrough all rpm. The only thing is that i believe that they are electroniccly controlled and you need the svt pcm :/ wich you can swap.mmm i hope it was some help oh and port the plenum and anywhere where there is air Nd exaust moving and a throttle body spacer..

Oh and bore your motor and look into heads that can help you out with the bore size.

Sell it and get a mazdaspeed3. You can get 350hp with bolt ons. They are 262hp stock, and a mazdaspeed intake alone with give you a extra 28hp, and 28tq.

The aftemarket is plentiful, and the brakes and suspension is light years over the mk1 focus.
