Hood selection for 05+

Seems like the 00-04 models have a lot more selections for aftermarket hoods than we do.

I have hood choices narrowed down to two:

Option 1:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2007-Fo...ht_6024wt_1037

Pros - looks different - quality has good feedback
Cons - only comes in black carbon fiber, not sure if I trust that many vents with water.

Option 2: the good ol invader hood here: http://www.deftracing.com/carbon_fib...cus_vented.htm

Pros- semi functional. It should help keep my weapon R intake manifold a little cooler....in theory. Water would only drain over the intake manifold. Comes in a royal blue color which is a little closer match to my car.
Cons- says it is made from a fiberglass frame, but hood is carbon fiber. I dont know if that is the norm. Unknown quality.

Any opinions or info would be appreciated. This would be going on a Sonic Blue Saleen Focus.

I have a CF hood from the same maker, in 1 year it needs to be sanded, CF is browned. And with that many dipps, would be a PITA to sand and refinnish..

The CF browned through the clearcoat? Which one do you have?

do we have any other options? Fiberglass, I would be happy with, but by the time i get it painted and fitted, it will cost more than a carbon fiber hood.

yea, browned thru the clear coat.. not many Options... I suggest getting the CF hood you like then pay later to paint it later to a solid color.

most Hoods unpained is 100$, painting them is $200 so it is cheaper to get OEM Unless you go to the pricey shops

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Ford...5a90fb&vxp=mtr

Painted to your Color... $325

You could do the faux carbon fiber wrap & then you wouldn't have to deal w/ hood pins or water issues. Use 3M's 1080 wrap.

no need for hood pins with these hoods... I have had mine at 130+mph and no slop, they are very stiff and are reinforced. they latch.. its not a singer layer of cf like a race hood. Its Ribbed.

Also, no water issues with mine... 3+ years..

Carbon fiber vinyl wrap? HELL NO! ha!

I am going to get the invader hood, with royal blue carbon fiber....keep the car covered in the driveway or park it in the garage to help extend the life of the fiber. SHould it start to turn yellow/brown, I will just get it painted.

I just cant bring myself to buy the hood i referenced on Ebay. Those are a LOT of fins/vents for water.

they are covered, there is a baffle that is solid, no water gets in.. Unless you remove the baffle. I love the hood, However I strongly suggest a new clear coat with UV protection before you mount it..
