Yeah... But Manuals FTW. Haven't heard anything about a car with a manual running out of control like this.

She had a push button starter on the Kia so no key to turn off. She also said the shifter would not move out of drive and was stuck. Most people panic and it inhibits their ability to think logically........I have to say, she did a good job handling the car at 100+ mph while squeezing between cars and hitting the soft shoulder, could have been much much worse.

I agree, I worry about the day when a manual transmission will no longer be offered as an option. I hope I never have to suffer owning a vehicle with an automatic, unless of course I'm in an autonomous vehicle and can go to sleep during the lame 7+ hour drive I have to make to see my family.......or unless the Jetson's flying car in a briefcase comes to fruition.....

I always think the same thing when I hear about these stories is turn the key off... but then again, new Kias have push button start so I am not sure how that would work.

I didn't see your post until after I posted but yeah I was thinking about how they have push button starts in Kias. I agree, too panic makes people lose their reasoning so the best thing to do is stay as calm as you can.

This is one of the many reasons to buy American! Just saying
