Adding backup camera

This little kit looks promising, but it costs $500 for the interface and reprogramming module, then another $119 - 129 for the camera. I think you have to run the wires yourself, it doesn't appear to use existing wiring.

Wait, the link does the same thing... Well if you go on that website and search MyFord Touch the options for the kits come up and the one that works for the focus is the MYFORDTOUCH CAM. Not the CAM-E

For those still interested, I pulled my factory radio today, and there is no direct Input for a video source. There is an empty plug for a harness so I have to assume that is for the backup camera, or the nav. Both of which my car is not equipped with

Not sure Nav requires it's own harness in any way. It just uses the SD card and GPS, which I think all MFT vehicles are wired for. I would check mine with Nav without reverse camera, but I have no idea how to remove all those parts!

APIM connector C2383 (54 pins):

pin 14 - REAR VIEW CAMERA SIGNAL
pin 15 - REAR VIEW CAMERA RETURN

There is also another module IPM-B (Image Processing Module) that is needed for the backup camera.

There is something very depressing about a backup camera on a car as small as a Focus. Seems to me that if one's situational awareness is poor enough to need a backup camera on a car of this size, they probably need a FLIR, too.

A backup camera when the back is tint to 5% at night is a good thing to have.

As I mentioned here -> http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...45#post4374645 . I got a call from my dealer that they are finally able to integrate the backup camera into MFT. I'm cautiously optimistic as they seem to have a penchant for bending the truth, but they say they've done it for 3 cars and I would have been the first; but they talked to my wife and my wife forgot to mention that the dealership called last week.
