Did you mean a strut tower brace? First thing that comes up when I googled for strut brace. http://www.steedafocus.com/parts/for...wer-brace.html

My car doesn't currently have one.

Thats aftermarket shiz you don't need that. You mean the top where it's bolted into (in the corners of the engine bay?)

Here's walkthrough on doing spings so will help you http://www.focushacks.com/mod/Instal...wering_springs

Word, I swapped coilovers on an Evo a few years ago. This looks familiar. Didn't have to compress the springs though, obviously...are there any non-coilover suspension kits that come with the spring compressed onto the strut?

I brought the free struts and springs I got to my mechanic, and he said they're about ready to go too (85-90K on them). He wants to put Monroes on both sides, which he said cost $240 per SIDE (~800 for the whole job with tax). Ouch. He's not comfortable putting the used stuff on, but he'd be perfectly willing to assemble a kit if I brought it to him.

If I have to spend $500+, should I just get a full kit? I saw this one on Steeda's site: http://www.steedafocus.com/parts/for...nsion-kit.html

I have yet to find a kit with the strut & spring assembled though. Wonder how much the mechanic would charge me to just put the springs on...I could take care of the rest.
