Hi all, you can add another person to the list of suckers who overtightened the clamp on his filter and bent his MAF housing. My power loss has persisted even though I've gotten the filter to stay on now, which leads me to believe I've cracked it. I'll be ordering another one from Ford.
Glad I found this thread.

Making the jump, installing the kit tomorrow morning. Interestingly it had two hoses and two large pieces of edge trim.
Question, removal of the connector to the MAF - just pull up on the red tab to release? |

Still don't know if I should pull the trigger and buy it, or wait to see if K&N changes/fixes the kit to amend the filter/housing issues. Thoughts?

From all we've heard, over-tightening seems to be the issue, so I don't plan on doing that. If they retrofit a part, can always have them send it. I've done several dry runs looking at what gets moved, etc, so feel pretty confident I should not fubar anything. Just need to make sure about that red release on the MAF.

Thank you, sir! Looking forward to the project, looks like not too much time involved. I think back to when I installed one in my 2007 Focus with the PZEV. Spent more time taking out the old non-replaceable unit than I spent installing the typhoon.

That was a painless install. About 45 minutes start to finish, tightened filter just enough that pressure would not push it off, so it seems fine. Took it for a brief ride, nice rumble. Now you guys have me thinking lunchbox delete. Have a friend who is a car geek and a welder who wants to do it.
My thanks to all who helped and encouraged! A worthwhile mod, but the test will come tomorrow on a road trip. As an aside, maf housing lined up great. |

Well, road test went fine, but filter fell off after 150 miles. Must be some vibrations/harmonics that cause it as that clamp was loosened quite a bit. Tightened it again and have wedges it in place temporarily until I can make something to support or hold it from sliding off.
