Are silverstars worth it

I had them when I had my F150 and liked the light. I dont drive at night much and do not have DRL either. So would you buy them just to upgrade or just use the stockers?

Thanks.

No. I've bought them 4 times. Each time they blow in less than 4-6 months average. Huge waste of money IMO.

Get Hella High Performance Xenon Blue Bulbs. Ran them off road for years, never had any problems. You can get them at Pep Boys. Don't waste money on Sylvania Silverstar Ultras.

Please don't "just get HIDs" unless you're properly retrofitting your headlights.

I've had the same set of Silverstars in my car for over a year (the picture was taken on 3/9/11), but judging from what others say about them, I'd go with the Hella's. Maybe I've just had really good luck? Here's a pic of mine. The fog lamps are Silverstars as well. Its not the best picture ever, I took it with an old phone.

I had about four sets also, they blew within a year. The last set both lights blew simultaneously and that was it for me. I had to call someone to bring me new bulbs and it was like 20* outside.

Anyone else have experience with these?

Thanks for the advice and the pictures. Makes a world of difference to see it like that.

Don't get HID's unless you get projector housings. I have Philips Crystal Vision Ultras and love them.

I put a set of Silverstars in my 2005 Sport Trac in 2006, and at 90,000 miles they're still burning. Have a set of Ultras in my Ninja. They made a huge difference on dark rural roads in both vehicles. I'll probably be putting a set of SUs or Hellas in the Focus.
