Warning about K&N Intake

You should be good then! Only 3 people have broken the MAF housing due to over-tightening the filter so far, not 5 or more. Or, at least that's what has been documented on this site.

Of course whether you buy it is up to you. I check mine, but I don't have to. It has never come loose in the 3000 miles or so that I've put on it since I installed the intake.

The Steeda uses its own MAF housing and from the way the FSWERKS looks it appears to have another piece between the Ford MAF housing and the filter.

Steeda replaced the MAF housing with their own housing built into the intake pipe (I guess that's what I would call it...). To me, this is a great design, and the only reason I didn't go Steeda is because I liked how K&N funneled the air to the filter. I don't know too much about intakes, but it seemed to me to be less restrictive on the amount of air the intake has access too. In fact, I believe I remember a few individuals on this forum buying the Steeda Short Ram and fabbing a similar design to the K&N.

If you are worried about the housing breaking, don't go K&N. Personally, I think the issue has been solved...just don't overtighten the filter. You honestly can't go wrong with either Steeda or K&N. I just liked the look of the K&N more, and thought it was a better design.

@wantz12 or @Sonic_HedgeHog, I'll buy (if I go this path) the intake only, for now. I haven't found any video or sound record with it alone (I listened to the one craig put on this site and I thought it being great but he had the fswerks exhaust, not the stock one). I would like to know if you have any info about this. Thank you again !
