Thanks for the info on the valve cover. It isn't very attractive but its good to know there is one out there. I am not sure what you mean by CEL. I googled it and by CEL I think you mean check engine light. If that is what you mean then no. There have been no lights to indicate any kind of problem. I do have a video posted on youtube. Seems more like a cylinder 1 or 2 problem or injectors.

Also I know this isn't the thread so thanks for the help.

Mine sounds kind of like that, maybe not as loud. From my understanding it's the injectors, and the noise doesn't necessarily mean they are bad, there just isn't a whole lot of sound insulation. At least that's what other people on the forum have told me.

Thanks for the info. I took off the valve cover today and checked everything and re-seated my gaskets on the valve cover. They were leaking a tiny bit in the spark plug chamber. I am going to get the sea foam and injector cleaner this afternoon and see what happens.

I'll make a new video as soon as it's done.

Also, can you link me to a thread that this should go on? I am very new.

I would say this thread is fine. Do you have a mechanic's stethoscope? If not, you should get one. like $4 at harbor freight.

Sounds normal for the most part. If no check engine light (CEL), then its probably just injectors. One thing to be concerned about if there is a chattering coming from the engine is the tumble flaps in the intake manifold (you will get a CEL with this problem). Myself, along with a couple other 100k foci duratecs are having or have had this problem.

Just got done doing a sea foam treatment. Already quieter. I'll post the video as soon as it's edited.

Also I live in a town with a general store and a couple gas stations. The likeliness of me finding a mechanics stethoscope is slim to none. Thanks though.

Did you take the sea foam directly into the intake or did you put it in the gas tank?

Tank is fine. That will clean your fuel system out. Be sure to change the fuel filter soon after as all the crap gets caught in there. That can cause the fuel pump to gum up like mine did. There is a filter element (basically a mesh housing) that surrounds the fuel pump. Over time, debris will get caught in it and cause your fuel pump to fail. Better later than sooner.

You can also disconnect the vacuum line on the intake manifold and suck it up into the intake and cylinder head that way, although it bypasses the injectors and goes straight to the intake/valves to clean the carbon off. Also, try some in your engine next oil change.

Here is the video. I think I may have fixed the tick I heard but I think you are all correct in that the injectors and everything else just make a lot of noise anyway. Thanks for the help and you're welcome to others who may have this problem and this helped you.
