I'd trust some people I know in that type of situation but not some joe shmo that got his gun a week ago and has only a gun safety course under their belt.

I'm just saying it isn't that simple.
I'm sure everyone was safer hiding behind plastic chairs, running toward the exits he was targeting or just scaring him away with screams.

The worst part of these situations is that if somewhere WAS there with a gun and killed/injured say TWO people before he cut down the perp - the news story wouldn't be "Hundreds of lives saved at a tragic incident". It would read "Some cowboy CCW holder guns down 3 in movie theater".

I simply cannot see how someone could say people are better off in such a helpless situation than they are with even the smallest possibility of defense.
