Who the hell rented a manual? Must have been a local company. No national chain I'm aware of has manual trans cars in their fleet, especially in the econ class. Too many sheeple can't drive stick and they would lose rental revenue as the cheap car would sit.

I got the base model s, just so I could get a 5spd. I had my dealer look up other models and trims with the 5spd but they would have had to have been transferred from far our and at the end of it all it didn't seem worth the extra money. I am very happy with my Focus, even if it doesn't have Sync and the sport package :/

They tried to sell me on the SEL with the sport shift but, the dual clutch just didn't feel right, and it wasn't a manual. (also a prior rental)

Apparently a manual rental was such a flop Ford bought the car back. They owned it from May to October and put 7,900 miles on the car.

I had to go to three dealerships to find a manual. I promptly order a five speed with the sport package. Longest seven weeks in history.

Three months ago when I was shopping the four dealers in the Boise, Nampa and Ontario areas all had manuals on the lots; it was easier to find a car I liked than a dealership with competent salespeople.

When I was test driving I was told the 5sp that I test drove was the only 5sp in the state of AZ. It was a sales person though. Got the wife's Focus off the lot configured just as I had planned (DCT). Ordered mine (5sp). 6 weeks.

I bought a '12 Manual with Sport Package in Northern California in May. 7 Foci in my local dealer all with autos, they sent me a Manual SE from a dealer 250 miles away and I drove it home 2 days later. Its my first car with a stick and I love it! Love the sync, cruise, and rear discs!

I got lucky I suppose, my dealer only had about 7 Foci on hand in April and one happened to be the Tuxedo BLCK with Sport package and a manual! I really enjoy this 5spd, seems beefier to me while still having a smooth feel.

I had to test drive an S to try out the manual transmission. My dealer did a search and there were no SE manuals in the Chicago area back in April.
