When I first looked at the 2012 Focus the dealer had 2 models on the lot: Bare bones S models and overloaded Ti models. Leather seats don't sell well in desert climates like Tucson, so I was surprised that they bought them that way. Plus Ti interiors seem to be available only on dark colors (even the artic white option has a lot of black) also not popular in hot climates. I was impressed with the standard amount of equipment in the S though. Ended up getting an SEL witha moonroof. Almost 28,000 miles already and no problems other than oil changes and tire rotations.

For the SE sport, it showed NG and NF springs, but on my ETIS it shows all NF and with touring suspension .... weird

I griped about no rear mats on my SE Sport, and my salesman put a set in there at his own expense, as they don't come standard. Whatta guy!
Tried the 18" wheels suspended TI, and a little too much grasshopper dung was felt through the chassis, when I ran over it, so went with the SE Sport. Couldn't be happier with the cushy ride and hint of sporty intention. I do have fun here in sportbike heaven, but you cannot expect the SE sport to handle like a sports car. It certainly isn't one, but it balances cush/sport perfectly.

I have an SE Sport with the following information.
According to Etis: -Build date: 01.09.2011 (Sep. 1) -Touring Suspension -BV61-5310-NG* Left Front Coil -BV61-5310-NG* Right Front Coil -BV61-5560-NG* Left Rear Coil Spring -BV61-5560-NG* Right Rr Coil Spring According to Ford Parts, I have 18124 and 18125, which are listed as the Touring Suspension. Do any of you know why I don't have the NF rear as previously listed in this thread? |

If you want a sportier ride...get a hatch..it is a stiffer chassis. I am BMW fan and almost got a 540i, but I wanted reliability with a sporty ride.
Focus was designed/engineered in Germany, so you know at least for the hatch..engineers wanted to have a driver car. I test drove both the sedan and hatch..and you can def tell the difference between the two chassis...sedan is more...mush...both were SE package cars with a stick Also if you can get a 2012 built between 3/2012-mid 6/2012...the shocks were coded heavy duty according to ford parts.com

-Standard Suspension BV61-5310-NG* Left Front Coil BV61-5310-NG* Right Front Coil BV61-5560-NG* Left Rear Coil Spring BV61-5560-NG* Right Rr Coil Spring Which seems to indicate that the first of the two previously listed cars have the same -NF coils all around. So are the differences down to the dampers (aka the struts) or is there something else different in the suspension that was supposed to make the sports package ride firmer? |
