Discs keep the rear in control since much better thah with drums and I've autocrossed with both and there's a huge diff in spirited driving but on the street probably not a big deal but the Sport option was $600 and I would'a paid $600 alone for the discs and the rest was just fluff and they look good behind a set of wheels.

It has a little something to do with it, but yeah. FWD vehicles tend to have a higher percentage of static weight over the front than RWD vehicles. (Also, the brakes that stop the drive wheels have to overcome engine torque when you're not in neutral.)

The Sport option was the reason my car had to come from 450 miles away. Sometimes it pays to do your research before and spend the extra money. If I could have found one with some 17's on it too, I would have gladly spend the extra few hundreds on it. Moral of the story: buy it factory installed and you have it from day one.

The best price I could find on a sport model with 18.5k, I bought my car for 16k. So as you can see was a bit more than "a few hundred extra"

do it.
rear discs wont decrease braking performance. it probably wont decrease braking distance either (except in cases of repeated braking where heat is an issue)
disc brakes are sometimes heavier than drums anyways.
however, they look way better than drum, especially if you have some nice 17" wheels or larger.

i swapped to rear discs on my zx3.
