I launch from 5k with about 8psi built up on the 2-step. If the track is decently prepped, it hooks right up (slicks). My clutch slipped last time out though. Even dead hooking dropping the clutch from 5k, I haven't broken an axle from launching. I've broken 2 axles due to potholes though.

There's way too many variables to say what RPM to launch from, even with a stock car. Differences in track prep, track surface material (asphalt, concrete, etc...), and time of day can all make a difference. You just have to get out there and find where it likes it best.

Don't do a burnout on street tires, you're wasting your time. Street tires actually lose traction when heated due to the rubber used in radial tires. If you're working with slick compound, then yes heat them up. Slicks become stickier when hot, the opposite of a street tire. Also, going through the water with street tires is just going to get water trapped inside the grooves that will make you spin off the line even worse.

see i have always heard tha you dont have to heat your streets, but the track i go to you have no way around the wter puddle so i go thru the water fast, stop and burn out just to get the water off or i just spin forever.

i will be up graded with a header in the next month ( i hope ) i will post new times again

... I had gone to our drag strip here in phoenix last, got raped due to my noobishnessness.
I now know that droping the clutch at 3k has a higher probability in getting better numbers yo.

The next question is, when shifting afterwards ... is it recommended to let off the clutch slightly. I seemed to have been letting off it alot since I did miss engaging third gear in one of my runs for not letting off the clutch enough? Any input on this?

umm....I let off of the clutch after every gear change
