I may buy a Focus as soon as today - probably a 2012 SE 5-door. The only options I must have are the 6-speed auto and I really hate wheel covers, so I want to find a way to get alloy wheels. I can live with the rear drum brakes - dont necessarily want the spend $2500 on the appearance package. I really do want the Ford sync, and 6-speaker stereo - probably something I want.

I know the 2013 comes with alloy wheels, but it does not seem to have many changes - so I am likely just going to get the 2012.

Question - there are $1750 in incentives - most of which expire on July 31st. What are the odds that on Aug 1st there will be greater incentives?

When will people know if the incentives for zip code 02360 go up or down for Aug?

And finally, equally equipped, how much more will a 2013 cost me? It seems like about $2200 more with the same features - is that correct?

I'm sticking with a 2012 and putting my order in while I can if I can't find anything on the dealer lots.

If you can't find a 2012 on the lots you will be forced into ordering a 2013, as the order bank for the 2012 has long since closed (back around 5/4/12 with the last day to make changes to the order bank being 5/17/12 iirc).

The last scheduled build date for the 2012 is 7/22/12 with the '13s coming on line on the following morning 7/23/12. So what you find on the lots is likely to be all that will be available at this point.

I'll assume this applies to Canada too?

My Ti just got written off so to make it all easier I just want the exact same one as a replacement and avoid waiting.

I'm not against going used if I have to, aren't the 2013s missing things like dimming mirrors and rain sensing wipers and what not?

I'm pretty sure that this is the case, the U.S. site already has the 2013 MY info on the ford page. Canada is behind on updating the website, but all the Focus models built for sale in the N.A. market area are coming from the Michigan Assembly Plant (Wayne Assembly plant). Production is scheduled to end for Job 2 2012 models at the end of the week with Job 1 2013 scheduled for Monday the 23rd. The only thing is I haven't seen a canadian specific order guide so I don't know what the specific differences will be. The SEL is to be eliminated here, as well as the auto dimming rear view mirror and several other features/ colors/ etc.

Despite alloys being made standard on the SE you give up fog lamps and have to get the se premium package (not sure the exact name) for $2000 more with leather and 17" wheels in order to get rear disk brakes, and the dual zone climate control requires MFT where as in 2012 it was standard on an SEL without it. The SE now costs well over the former base or mid range SEL, and approaches Ti territory. Cloth seats are also unavailable on the 2013 Ti, as the base spec Ti starts off with the loaded SE, where as in 2012 at least you could have gotten cloth seats, which is nice since they were only available in black without a seat chiller.

Used/sitting on a lot 2012 here I come.

I'm working with my dealer to see if they can get a similar/same model, I'd give up candy blue if I have to just to make the insurance things easier.

Rain sensing wipes were a boon I don't get why they are removing them

Probably more expensive, and I know for me they don't work quite right, never sensitive enough in light rain.

Can't argue there, light rain always meant fiddling with it or manually starting but in the snow or moderate/heavy rain they worked great

The sensor was also built into the auto dimming mirror so if they got rid of that it had to go as well, I really like the auto dimming mirror so I am glad I have that
