Warning about K&N Intake

Toying with the idea of a thin walled section of tube to fit inside the edge of the MAF Housing and into the filter to keep it from being crushed and possible smooth air a little over the entrance.

Not a bad idea. My new housing seems to be holding up fine so far. I've gotta take off the filter to take some pics for Troy and I'll check again when I do that (I'd do it now, but it's too hot and humid here, so I'm just gonna have a few beers instead )

Is this a stock housing or something from K&N?

And there's like 3 versions too. Separate one for pzev vehicles. I Confusing as all hell.
