Woohoo way to go! I wouldn't expect any issues with 6 coats either.. I used 4-5 cans on my rims. roughly 7-8 coats prolly would have been fine with 5-6 coats.. Rims are 18x9.5 factory wheels. that covered the entire front and inside of the wheel.. Just sayin 4 can should be enough prolly have some left over to maybe spray something else!

How thin are you guys doing the coats then?

I typically do about 4 thin coats when trying to do my spoiler, but it ALWAYS comes out rough. And both times I've done it at night, so no sunlight. It feels sort of like sandpaper when I'm done.

To get an idea of how thin my coats are, I usually can't see any more silver after the third coat. Second coat covers most of it but there's still just a bit showing through.

Also, interestingly enough, the smaller area of my spoiler (the bottom, where it sticks out from the window a bit) always ends up smooth, but the top, larger area always comes out rough.

Hmm when u coat anything start off with a thin coat but on ur 2nd and 3rd coat u should start covering it a lil thicker by the 4th and 5th coat u should be pretty much covering what ever ur spraying.. and add a couple extra coats for extra thickness.. And I've only had plasti dip come out rough once and it was because I tried doing it in direct sunlight lol..

can't lie a tire shop messed up one of my wheels and I had to respray it and I still had no issues peeling it off jus' sayin' it's all in how thick the coats are that you are applying

If you have issues with it not coming off easily, you can always spray it with a label remover. I used the Turtle Wax brand when I took it off my wheels last (where it was thin and wouldn't pull nicely). It basically melts the plasti-dip.

Messy, very messy. Effective, very effective.
