2012 owners Post your MPG's - Page 105

I just put on my 17"s and have been a bit heavy on the throttle and have dropped 1mpg down to 26.3.

If I was getting below 24mpg I would be concerned;this is a 2800lb fwd 160hp car compared to my STI which is about 3600lbs and 340hp and it's driven hard occasionally and gets 20 with almost all city driving.

Are you going by your computer calculated mileage? I go by mine to monitor any odd drop or something but I still use good 'ol math and on paper I'm getting closer to 30 so it's off by 3.7mpg which is a lot.

two weeks ago I had the first check at the vendor's garage and they updated the ecu (at least they said they did) and I expected an improvement but actually I'm seeing a 1mpg droop aprox :s

it's weird since the car still is 100% stock with 16inch wheels and also I don't use the A/C almost at all

Edit: Not that that's horrible compared to the average car. I looked at Bentleys and Escalades on Fuelly yesterday. I made me feel much better.

i'm thrusting in the onboard's ecu... i'm getting 250miles per tank

There are so many variable in city MPG (gas, hilly vs flat terrain, wind, temperature) and whether you have passed the recommended 1000 mile break in.

I always suggest people start with a more controlled test. That is: Get out on a straight flat road without any stops that goes for a least a few miles (This may not be easy depending on your area). Get up to a steady 55mph and set cruise control. Reset the trip2 MPG meter and wait for several miles. It should climb the the upper 30's to roughly 38-39 MPG. If you cant get this, there may be something wrong with the car (bad bearing, dragging break pad, engine computer out of whack.)

Edit: I was not very familiar with Costa Rica so I pulled up a terrain map. Wow, pretty much your whole country is mountains and hills. Nice on the eyes but hell on MPG.

EDIT: That's the closest I can get to 500 miles per tank unless I put my 15" LRR tires back on... but they're just so ugly. Also, that's obviously mostly highway driving.

i'm going to test it on weekend to see how many mile i can get on 55mph... my focus already have 5500kms so i believe break in is done
