I went through 3 so i'll just drop my them all in
1. Stock Comfort: 5 of 5 Handling: 3 of 5 Issues: 5 of 5 Quality: 5 of 5 ford did a great job with there system. well balanced and comfortable to ride ![]() 2. 06-07 Eibach pro kit springs (with tokico hp series shocks and struts, svt rsb with prothane bushings, stock kumho tires) Comfort: 2 of 5 Handling: 5 of 5 Issues: 2 of 5 (springs made too much noise, sway bar endlinks popped constantly) Quality: 3 of 5 not a big fan of what i bought. I was just in it to get a lower, better handling car but that was not the case. Don't go cheap with your suspension or you'll regret it. and if you can, get the most updated parts for your car that the manufacturer offers. it was cool to see my car lowered though ![]() 3. H&r sport springs (with tokico hp series shocks and struts, svt rsb with prothane bushings, moog endlinks, crappy continental dws tires recommended from this site.) Comfort: 3.75 of 5 (my dad says he loves driving it and the only places its really bad is on a rough road, but that's expected. other than that it just sails over bumps ) Handling: 4 of 5 with these stupid tires 5 of 5 without (i'll explain after) Issues: 5 of 5 (no issues to report, sprigs easy to install due to shortness) Quality: 5 of 5 (nailed it) H&R makes a great spring. they are alot beefier and shorter than the eibach which probably explains why my car ended up slightly lower than it was before. the only downfall to this whole kit is the tires as the sidewall is too thin for its own good. certain sweeping turns i can take with ease but it will break loose if the tires can't take it any more. buddy of mine switch wheels with my for a day, he had coilovers and upgraded sway bars and told me that those tires are way too soft. i even saw it in my rear view as his car flopped from side to side while my car with his tires just reacted with ease. no side wall problems at all. all in all, i recommend this setup, great daily and good performer.

I say go with coilovers. There isn't much choices. You have Tokico, Ford Racing and H&R.

For me a good spring and damper set is more appropriate, overall I have been satisfied with the stock ride. After putting it on the lift I noticed that the suspension/brakes needs some TLC: Front sway bar bushings are clicking, front brakes are getting worn down, ride feels a little softer than "new" etc.
Also for the ~$1,000 I would spend I coil overs I can get this instead: Ford Damper kit P/N M-18000-ZX3B from ($159.50 + $25 shipping Tousley Ford) H&R Sport Spring Set P/N 51662 ($206 +16.83 shipping Tire Rack) Moog front sway bar links P/N K80066 ($17.97 x 2 = 35.94 + 11.75 shipping Rockauto) Energy Suspension front poly bushings P/N 9.5158G ($20.90 Amazon) Energy Suspension rear sway bar grommets P/N 9.8105G ($13.90 Amazon) Alignment at local shop (~$75) Total For suspension upgrade/fix:$564.82 Not related, just needs to be done: AKEBONO Front Pads P/N ACT1339 ($53.79 + 11.75 shipping Rockauto) CENTRIC Rotors P/N 12061093 (120.61093) ($51.79 x2 = 103.58 + 11.75 shipping Rock Auto) Tires on hold for now, I think I will wait until I'm finish installing above / do more research. Also, I was not able to find 20mm rear bushings w/ zerk fittings for the rear sway bar, only 20.5 mm, but they seem to be in good shape, so I will hold off. Edit: Updated with prices and P/N's (hopefully it helps others to build / price out their own systems) Last edited by yomanwill; 06-16-2012 at 03:39 PM. |
