After 4 tank of gas I have an average of 23 MPG, this is not normal right?

On streets i drive exactly the speed limit. And if someone tailgates, I gradually slow down. (same on freeway, though the minimum is 45, so i do not drop below 45mph.)

The behavior you are describing is more reckless than driving 20 over the limit.

I got 6.5L/100 (36 MPG) this morning comming donwtown Montreal with ''zero'' trafic. The real test will be at 16h00 today in the Montreal downtown friday mayhem with all the construction site and all.

As for me driving 100 KPH, well, I usually drive between 110 and 120 KPH on the highway and I dont get mad if someone is slower...that's behind me aswell (I'm going to hit 50 soon ) I drove 100KPH for testinf purpose only. Lets just stay on topic. OP, Sorry about starting a controversy here.

Is that your calculation of mpg, or are you reading off of the dash readout on the car? If your going by the cars calculations, have you reset that button after each fill-up?

That being said, mostly city driving with a lot of start/stop and some less than stellar driving habits could certainly reward you with 23 mpg. "Not normal", but possible.

I've been averaging around 7.2L/100KM...I watch my speeds, anticipation, etc and it only once has dropped below 7.....maybe it hasn't quite passed it's break in period at about 4000km on the odo?

After averaging around 34 for several tanks mine all of a sudden dropped to about 31 for the past 2 tanks - should pass 5,000 miles this afternoon. Only difference is I started carpooling with a neighbor so there's the added weight and had to start using A/C in the morning as well as in the afternoon to be considerate to him. I would hope mileage wouldn't plummet that much by increasing A/C use to full time from half time. I'm running a little test now to understand mpg with and w/o A/C.

Hopefully it's just bad gas - will also switch stations at the next fillup.

When I had a 50/50 city/highway commute, I had 7.5L/100Km with my SEL. I was stuck 30 minutes in bumper to bumper trafic at night too. So I think your numbers are ''normal''. I now take the bus to go downtown and walk to the office...got fed up of the trafic jams on the Jacques Cartier bridge. So now my commute is less than 9 minutes and 4.9 Km to get to the bus stop, that makes for poor fuel numbers as I dont hit the highway anymore. Still, 7.5L/100Km is better than 12L/100Km I had with my '07 Outlander V6

You make a point to drive slower huh? Sounds like you need more to worry about in life lol! MOre power to ya old man!
