Mine averages 37.6 in mixed driving. The city mileage is much better than I thought it would be,

I guess city driving isn't the same for everyone. I get between 20-24MPG for city driving..., but that's the reality of the city here, stop/go, rush hour, idling.... as soon as hit the highway, MPG get better.

I get a constant 30-31mpg with the ac on, beating on it in rush hour traffic and city driving.

That is certainly true. I'll bet the traffic and stop-and-go in my "city" of 40,000 population isn't the same as it is in Montreal!

Wow, I've only read a few pages of this lengthy thread, but that's more than enough to understand that my MPG sucks! That's no bueno.

My #1 main reason for purchasing this car on 3/18/12 was because of the marketed high MPG, but I have not seen that. I'm not even close to what many folks here see.

Starting on 4/9/12, after a few weeks and about 900 miles or so of less than stellar MPG in my 2012 Focus Titanium, I started up a google spreadsheet and tallied my numbers from every fill up. Here's my overall:

-- 12 tanks of gas since 4/9 (one tank was premium -- I averaged 27.75 MPG for that one...)
-- 126.27 gallons purchased, averaging 10.52 gallons per fill up
-- 3,540.1 miles driven (car is now at 4,600+ miles)
-- 28.946 MPG per OSD
-- 28.06 ACTUAL MPG per my calculations using the numbers above

Therefore car is about .9 MPG off, and at just 28 MPG I am getting very low mileage.

I work five days a week and my commute is 25.3 miles each direction. 99% of my drive is freeway, though I do tend to get caught up in drive time traffic a lot of the time (this is L.A. after all...). I do a bit of tooling around on the weekends, plus some city driving. I have been trying to be extremely sensitive to driving with a lead foot during this period, as I want to eek out every single mile I can. To that point, I live on a very steep hill, and while I watch the MPG plunge as I roll up to my house at night, I also roll down the first half mile from my house in neutral each morning. When I come to my first stop sign, only then do I slip the DCT into drive. Doesn't seem to matter: my numbers still suck.

Anyone care to comment?

Should I take this up with my dealership in some intelligent way?

Thanks in advance for any constructive comments you might have.

voilą!

last week, I was idling in crazy traffic we had during the Grand Prix and at one point, I was at 16mpg! I had to hit the highway the next day to bring it back to 23mpg.

Today filled up and was certain that was the first tank of true 'Summer gas' (Premium) as soon as I hit the freeway i was up to 55mpg..
Even off the freeway on a street and not having to stop it stayed at 55mpg while in fifth gear at 32mph..
I was pleased.
Even with a few stoplights, and waiting for the garage door to close (required safety) and then park, i had 49.3mpg on the meter when i shut off the engine.
WOW.

My turn now

Ok, so it's been 24 hrs since FSA 12B37 and I went for a highway ride after diner.
Got a fresh new tank of Shell reg fuel
Reset computer to zero
Hit 110 KPH (68 MPH)
Minimum AC on 23° Celcius
I got 6.0L/100Km or 39.2 MPG

Comming back home I tried to slow down a bit and tuned the AC off
Going 102 KPH (63 MPH)
No AC, only minimal regular vent
I got 5.4L/100km or 43 MPG

These are the best numbers yet as I did this test with the first Hatchback I got in nov '11 and this Sedan. The best I could acheive was with the Hatchback and got 6.2L/100KM

But honestly..Who drives at 100 KPH these days? I kinda felt like some obstacle...and the look on the face of people passing me were like ''WTF man, move!!''

I'll update with more realistic numbers from my daily commute.

I've been averaging 33-35mpg with a hair under 5K on the clock. To me this is very acceptable, especially coming from my Mercury Sable where I was getting 18-20mpg.

Now, I do have an oil change appointment in the morning to also get the passenger seat fixed to stop it's annoying rattle and to get the FSA 12B37 done.
So, I'll top off the tank once I leave the dealer to see where the MPG goes as I typically drive in S mode via the toggle shifter to keep the shifts down.

.
I drive at 55mph in the 65mph areas. and at 52mph in the 55 areas.
Since i am now an old person, i do not care about what others are worried about.
I used to drive faster than everybody else, now I drive slower HAH!
My opinion is if you want to go fast who cares...
If you are late so what.
On streets i drive exactly the speed limit. And if someone tailgates, I gradually slow down. (same on freeway, though the minimum is 45, so i do not drop below 45mph.)
