I don't know if 600 is that bad for paint? I know I've gotten paint custom at Napa in Kent Ohio and those guys did it for around 30 bucks for three rattle cans. Great job on the color match. I was told paint price has gone through the roof. Probably all those government regulations...

Anyway - Excited to see the end result!!!

Yeesh, this car needs to be lowered at least 2 inches, maybe 3...

Kit is ok, front bumper is modeled after Reiger's which looks good. The rest I'd have to see painted and at proper ride height.

You are putting an insane amount of money into this car. I hope you are happy with the results.

Car gets dropped off on 06/11/12.

Counting the days. Cant wait!
I remember back in like 2001 I bought a gallon and 1 quart of custom mixed paint with a gallon of clear a quart of hardener all PPG. Painters tape and roll of masking paper and I paid around $285. I actually still have some paint left over but I'm sure it's no good.

The car has the M-3000-ZX3A suspension kit. It lowered the car 1/2 inch. That was all the lower I wanted it.

Car was dropped off today. New rockers getting reinstalled properly after I had a yin yang do it. Then he is pulling the body kit and moldings and everything to do a proper body work and paint job. He is also installing my M-2300-SVTR rear brake kit. Cant wait to get it back in 7-10 days. I will post pics of the shops progress shortly.

Everyone has different styles and tastes. That said. Not everyone would do it like I did it and that is a good thing. It would suck if we all had the same looking car! So dont judge. If you dont like it thats your view. I like what I am doing to my Focus.

Thanks,
Joe

Can't wait to see the finished product. Probably not my style, but then I am getting sick of seeing slammed all the time too. You said it will be better than factory but not a show quality job, so how do they explain that, how it is done? Is the difference in the prep work, the post paint work, or is the painter not as skilled as a show quality guy?

I'm interested in painting mine, but with the color change and all, wanting a nice job, it certainly gets expensive. I can't pay what I paid when I had my old GTO done.

Day 1 - took some pics of shops progress after 1 day.

Rockers have been removed and reinstalled correctly by cutting out the old rocker and weld in the new rocker.

They removed the spare tire well so that I can run my center exhaust easier.

Here are some pics.

I cant believe how much work he is doing for $1200,00 bucks!

I had to buy all paint and materials

Show quality would require 2-3 days of post paint work. Wet sand buff more clear, more wet sand buff more clear.

Yeah, I always wondered how they explain that. You would think they would do their best job every time, but I know money buys happiness.

I paid a tad over $9K for my '67 GTO paint only, no body work (done by someone else) in the early 80's. But I wanted concours, and I got it. Can't see spending that on a car paint job anymore though.

This thread will be great to follow, lots of pics it looks like. Can't wait to see final product. It may be worth driving my Focus there and have them do it.
