Brand new car, when to wax?
Bought the car 2 days ago with 11 miles on it. It has over 100 now but it's still obviously new. How soon do I need to get a coat of wax on there and should I clay/polish/wax or just put a protective wax on it? The paint is as smooth as glass and I want to keep it that way, my other cars don't have paint this nice and I work hard on them.

I'll do it this weekend. It should go pretty quick, the last car I did it to was a Taurus and before that was a mustang. This one should be no problem.

Yes, detail it right away as the new paint is cured before the car leaves the plant. Using clay on its own is fine, but using Iron-X before the clay will help remove the metal contamination that you don't see but is there! Check it out.

Just finished claying and waxing our April built '12 and I couldn't believe the difference and a lot of crap came off the paint and removed all traces of water spots. We have 500 miles on it.

Mine is may built and it's silver. I've never found a combination of products that could give me the shine I want out of silver but I keep buying silver cars. This is a different paint code than my others so I'm hoping I can get a good look out of it. I will invest in some new detailing supplies though.

Posted via FF Mobile As soon as possible. Idk about the foci or other cars for that matter, but my parents just got a 2012 Sonata. Theyve only had it for 3 weeks, but after waxing my car I felt up the Sonata, lol, and my hand didnt glide like it had good wax on it. Do new cars even come with wax like we put on?

What kind of polish/sealant should I use for my silver car. I was looking at the poorboys stuff but after shipping, it ends up costing a lot and I'm close to broke until I get paid from my new job starting Monday.
Anything I can use from autozone? Or should I just hold off and use some easy cleaner wax and clay it an do it right when I have the money? |

Some dealerships I've secret-shopped charge in upwards of $700-900 for "Sealant" that doesn't necessarily get applied after they roll the new ones off the trucks. Another insight: most cars delivered in the upper 48 get sent on trains... the rail-dust is hard to see. The trucks also end up getting stuff everywhere depending on which end of the vehicle was facing the front. |
