Block build help.. NEEED INPUT !

i have a 02 zx3.. i blew the motor on a stock block running 13 psi... i know i shouldnt have been that high stupid me .. so i got a new motor like pretty much new re honed and surfaced... so im looking into a bottom end build so i dont have this happen again...

im thinking of going with these...

whats your input on if its a good idea or not..

I bought the Eagle and JE piston combo in the 85.5mm bore of the 9.0:1 compression variety and so fare so good... I have not installed them yet... just picked up a ring compressor to put the piston/rods in so will be doing that over the next few days...

I can sell you a short block for 2250.00 with everything done and ready to go , ARP main studs , eagle rods , forged pistons , squared deck , bored / honed , new rings , rods and main bearangs , all clearances properly set , worked oil pump etc

If you sit down and figure everything up you will see you cant build it for what you can buy it and we do a lot of things you wouldnt do

experience is fun... but also a lot of work, a lot money, a lot of getting tools, etc. While it might be great doing it your self and having it work and knowing you built it... you also have the chance you did something wrong and boom...

I think I priced things out and its around $3,0500 for my expected build (that's just in parts) also have had to get about $150 in tools thus far, that does include the minor work on the top end (decking, valve seals and valve job) I have sunk easily 100+ hours into it already... I will take pride knowing I built the whole thing from every single bolt, bearing, part, etc on the motor... assuming it works :-)

But every one has there own priorities.

i already have a block.. and what not i dont have 2250 to throw around on stuff like that i wish i did but i dont i have bills every month so paying it all at once is not gonna do me any good ill have no problem getting the parts over a little time .. and on top of that i have always liked doing everything myself.. i know this is my first focus but paying someone to do it for me is just not what i want to to i like the pride feeling when i know i assembled it myself.. so im looking for more input on the parts rather then someone trying to sell me something

im also not trying to shoot for high numbers ive had plenty of race cars i just want something that is reliable and can still have fun with im looking to be more around like 300-350hp

the 300 to 325HP is what I am shooting for also as its at the limit of what return-less fuel system can do. you can do the 300ish HP with a boost a pump and a turbo size that would still make it fun for a DD... However you are also going to need to upgrade the transmission (clutch and will want a limited slip differential). Realize though that a Foci with 300-350Hp is almost 3 times the amount of power out of the same block.

I am right there with you on the money side... have a few hundred every month or so to spend so getting pistons here, rods there, bearings down the road, ect... is still more $$ possible for me than a lump sum.

Many people use the probe pistons or the JE pistons. dont think you will go wrong with either.
