Details, please ...
First off, you being from Mtl, does that mean that "steady speed" was 119km/h? ;)
Which gas station?
Did you reset the MPG display once you got on the highway just to see what it gets on pure hwy driving @ 105km/h?

car is still fairly new, i'm at approx. 1300 miles (including this trip). In the city, I'm averaging so far 21-23mpg! I did a full reset on my average mpg as soon as I hit the highway.

I'm at my 6th fill-up.

I meant a system reset. Each time I have had to bring my car in for work, they would reset the system and send me back to 24mpg. I would see improvement while the car re-learned. If it hadn't had a reset like that, I would think you would be doing better.

I've just filled for a second time and although I can't count the first fill as I can't be certain how full the car was when I got it the car display indicated about 33mpg for the first tank and both the car display and my hand calculation showed the second tank at over 34mpg. Both tanks involved a mix of city/highway/freeway of about 20/50/30. The average DRIVING speeds would be about 40/60/75.

On the flip side, 31.4 still seems low, even with that much additional weight. I get better than that with a majority of city mileage (32.5, with Handling Package, K&N Drop in, Shell V-Power 91).

How many miles are on your car, and how many tanks have you gone through since the last time your vehicle has had a Reset?

Posted via FF Mobile 3 extra people is plenty to kill the mileage. If you add in hills and other enviorment things where you have to put your foot down a bit more, your mileage will go down. In this day and age, most 3 adults do not weight approx 500 lbs. Try 600. 500lbs would average out to about 165 lbs a person, America is a bunch of fatties. Just saying 500 lbs I could see killing at least 5mpg.

well, I've never brought it to the dealer yet... so no master reset whatsover. I always reset the trip computer + average mpg at every tank.

Ok. The only other thing I can think of would be to try a different gas station...

Lol, touche . But he's from Canada, maybe they grow them smaller?

Either way, you are probably close to correct in the mileage lost through additional weight.

I drive overwhelmingly in stop and go city traffic. I therefore, get around 30 - 31 miles and that is if I hop on the highway once or twice a week. If it is 100% city driving, I get 29 maybe 30.

lol! indeed, we were 4 healthy adults... not the supersize American format, that's why I'm wondering why I ended up with city results for a flat & steady speed highway trip :)

I already switched from Esso to Ultramar... so I will continue there for a few tanks and compare.

I'm at 1300 miles, and past the break-in period... how much time does it really take to achieve approx. the estimate MPG's (as per Ford)?
