Yeah, they were super tight, but I kept working at it and it finally gave. Keep at it!

Well, I have a service appt set up for June 4th. I found that my rear end plastic piece (basically the plastic body that covers the actual bumper, etc...) is not secured properly where it meets the metal quarter panels. The right side is not seated properly at all and doesn't align with the quarter panel. The drivers side looks okay but I can grab the plastic body and pull it away from the car with ease. I 'm not sure if that is normal. If so, that is crazy but I do know the right side in not right at all.

Going to have the reposition the tail lights while it is in. Also have them drive it to log the existence of the front end rattle at low speeds. Also going to mention that it surges ever so slightly (and intermittently) at highway speeds. I doubt they feel that because it is only occasional and very subtle but I hope they at least log the issue.

Hmm.. I too have the chipping around the taillight (drivers side). It's rubbed the paint in two locations, around the front most bottom curve and at the 90 degree on the inside radius.

I noticed the same thing on my White Platinum. I stopped by Ford Springfield, PA and they took photos and sent it up to Ford NA. I'll have a call Tuesday with an appointment to bring it in. They're going to get me a 5-speed Focus for a loaner since I want to purchase an ST (like to see the difference with a manual).

Very awesome dealer and the service guy Paul was great! I found my dealer for all my work and my ST order next year.

My new 2012 Ti 5dr is target for delivery week of June 11. One of the first things I plan to do is to check the taillights... last thing I need is rubbed paint up here in Canada as rust still start ASAP.

So if I get this thread correct, if the light is 'touching' the paint, then it is too tight and needs to be loosened. How to remove the light (and to loosen it) can be found in the manual. It should be adjust so it isn't lose, but isn't touching. And there is a pin that does 'something'?

It would be great if someone did a YouTube video what what is correct vs wrong and how to fix it.

It's dark outside so I can't take a picture, but there's a pin on the 'fin' part of the tail lamp housing that fits into a socket. That pin can be unscrewed a bit, so when it's in the socket, it keeps the fin portion from touching the paint.

Hello Meathead,

Gracias!

Don't hesitate to contact the local Ford dealer, and set up an appointment to have the chipping looked at. I can also escalate this to the Customer Service Manager for your area. To do so, please send a PM with your contact information, dealer name/state, approximate mileage, and VIN.
