I am picking up my brand new 2012 Sterling Gray Focus SEL with My Ford Touch and Sony 10 speaker system tonight. Did I just make a grave mistake?

Every time I drive mine, I feel like I did. Wish I woulda done more research on a site such as this. I enjoyed driving my old Volvo 240 with no AC more than this

I'm not hard of hearing, so I don't crank the stereo, and that Sony system rattles like mofo. My old SVTF sounded so much better.

I just noticed that the ''very'' useless calendar fonction on my MFT is ahead one day...and I can't change it...in fact, you cant do anything with the calendar fonction other than look at it. Superior technology at it's best.

I had no idea there was a calendar in MFT until I saw it mentioned on the forums here. My calendar displays the correct day, however, unlike everyone else's. Go figure.

Would be nice if the date were displayed on the main screen. Though, if I were making a choice, I'd choose a clock that understands daylight saving time. Having a DST on/off switch in a system with a GPS is rather embarrassingly crude...

Yup there is a calendar fonction for us ''poor people'' that didn't spent 800$ for the Navigation SD Card. To make us feel better, Ford gave us a nice calendar to look at :)

Congrats on your new SEL.
In my personal opinion, I do not think you have made a mistake. I've had my Titanium with MFT and the Sony system for a couple of months and LOVE IT TO DEATH! IMHO the 2012 Focus is an amazing little car which is loaded with options that only a few years ago were only available on a European luxury car. I think the vast majority of Focus owners are very happy with the car. Some people have had issues with the MFT system and/or the DCT transmission. A lot of these problems have been corrected by the MFT 3.0 upgrade and, most recently, the 12B37 FSA for the tranny. (make sure your new SEL has this FSA...a lot of people are reporting very big improvements).

My MFT system works great since the 3.0 update. Is it perfect? No, but I have similiar issues with my Blackberry, my Samsung android phone and a host of other modern electronic devices. I'll take the occasional glitch in return for the ModCon.

Apparently some are still experiencing problems with the MFT system. Hopefully these will get fixed soon. Others continue to complain about cosmetic changes the 3.0 upgrade made to the system (like smaller album artwork or less wallpaper options). Still others apparently have made the decision to avoid the upgrade to 3.0 and keep us updated as to the problems they continue to have with the old version. This helps me to remember how the old system operated and some of the issues we had with the old system. Good times........

IMO you've made a great decision to buy an SEL. I think you will enjoy it as I have done.
Good luck and congratulations!

Rich

My build date was less than 2 months ago. My doors rattle with volume up 1/4. My MFT crashes multiple times a day. My AC smells like shit and stops working multiple times a day. DCT sounds like it's got marbles in it and shifts so inconsistently it's impossible to tell what's going on. Ford dealerships smugly tell you it's all normal. If I could go back and change it, I would. There is absolutely no excuse to have these kind of issues with a brand new car. What good are all these fancy options if they don't work? I work hard for my paychecks. Spending money on something that isn't anywhere near what's being promised...pisses me off.

For the record, I've owned a couple Fords with no issues.

For all the grief I give MFT, I'd still do it over again... the Sony stereo is actually quite good, and the screen is cool, although not as pretty as it used to be.

Who knows, maybe you won't have any problems with yours... at least, not serious ones. Most of the bugs you can learn to live with anyways, sad as it may be.

Just enjoy the Sony stereo, at least!
