Absolutely. It carries a 10-year warranty against yellowing, cracking, peeling, staining and etc, covering both film and labor. It also allows UV to pass through and fade the paint underneath at the same rate as the exposed paint.

My car was built on 5/7 and I've been calling CSX every other day since Sunday but so far the system continues to indicate "no status." OK, I got an email from my dealer today (3PM) indicating that my car is:

Current Status as of this AM : In Transit Arrived at Intermediate Point (Norfolk Southern Corp) Ftwayne, IN

OK, that tells me it's on the way and a couple hundred miles closer than the factory. Then I figured I'd call CSX again to see what there status was and it's still "no status"...


So, if my dealer is right the car is on the way but so far no ETA from them. I'd have estimated about 5 days from MI to UT (about 1700 miles at, say, 40mph plus perhaps 15 stops of 5 hours each). Anyone know a more accurate way to figure how long the train might take?

Ultimately it probably won't make much difference to me as I'm on the road for work and will not be home until the end of next week anyway...

Your actual build date is May 23, mid week, which should be perfect!! Look at the bottom of the sticker, right side under the barcode and below the blue line. You will see these numbers, 1201205236079. First number I believe means not built, then year, date and a 4 digit number for Ford's use.

There's no definitive proof, but historically (i.e. in the bad old days and apparently still going on at Chrysler plants), the line workers were allegedly not focused on building quality products on Monday or Friday.

I don't know if that's strictly true any more, particularly of the Michigan Assembly Plant where the Focus is built. My Monday build date car (so it might have started production on Monday and ended on Tuesday when it was rolled into the lot waiting for delivery) hasn't shown any worse quality than the others I have seen on the lot.

Now if quality control really is being performed it shouldn't matter if the car was built on any particular date.
